Most often, students are taught in the traditional manner of reading or listening to a teacher, memorizing the subject matter and answering questions on a test. Therefore, students never acquire authentic skills and love for learning. We are unique in that we strive to foster these skills in a nontraditional manner. The core subject areas of reading, writing, math, science and social studies are taught by implementing realistic and hands-on methods that are based upon the Illinois Learning Standards. Students first learn how to learn; meaning they learn research and study skills which they will apply to every subject. Then, their educational development ise nurtured through individual research, projects, field day educational trips, and individualized instruction. As a result, students posses a deep understanding of each subject and are assessed in authentic ways that empowers them to use their individual intelligences and apply their knowledge to the world. |
